Marc Carver’s most recent poem to appear here was “Knock Knock” (December 2017)

By Marc Carver

As I passed the man on the street
he looked at me with my mother’s eyes.
Full of disdain and hatred.

When I got back I said
“Don’t tell me any news I don’t want to hear.”
“Your mother is dead.” She said.
But of course
I knew that already.
