Jubilee Garcia’s poem A Fragment of Fear appeared here in January 2013. Have I mentioned that she is 11 years old?
Lament
By Jubilee Garcia
Look at my cat. It’s rather flat.
Of course, it’s on the mat.
It got flattened just like that.
It’ll be hard to get it off.
Of course, it’s on the mat.
It got flattened just like that.
It’ll be hard to get it off.
Look at my poor bag.
It’s got glue on its tag
It will stick very bad.
It’ll be hard to get it off.
Oh stinkin’, stinking,
Stinkin’ dress!
It’s stained on top,
A total mess.
But tonight, I have to look
My best!
It’ll be hard to get it off.
A flattened cat,
A marked up door,
A sticky bag,
Ad so much more.
So overwhelming you think
You’ll pop
And it’s still so hard to get it
OFF!
Jubilee (what a beautiful name), Thank you for sharing your humorous poem. Even though it’s funny, there is so much truth in it. Keep writing! Hope to see more of your work.
Jubilee, your poem is absolutely delightful. Reads like Dr. Seuss. Looking forward to your next poem.

I enjoyed your poem so much! It’s a reminder of all the ‘sticky’ situations we can get into and it’s humorous as well. Someday you will look back at this poem and you’ll smile.
Jubilee, This is a delightful poem. It has made my morning a happy one.
