NYC
By James Mc Elroy

Summer night
And a humid fog (of
Sorts) takes to the
Pan Am
Building like something from
Another world.

A woman who co-works
You asks, “Does your wife
Think you’re having an affair?”

The hot air on your feet–
The sheer woman of the streets
Between midnight and one
Before boarding the last train
To one of the burbs somewhere
Outside New York, New York.
