Fall is the end
Fall is the beginning
Nights are cool and sleep
comes easy Crickets are silent

                            The katydids done

Our soup pot is on the stove
Now shorts and sandals are stored
away Worn jeans, collared shirts and a
threadbare jacket hang in my closet

Summer in its joy has gone
scattering carrots and greens
tomatoes and beans
