James G Piatt’s poem Winter at the Farm appeared here in March. James is advancing us through the seasons.
One Spring Evening
By James G Piatt
Serene was the evening without city roar,
A night of peace without scarred asphalt:
The wind’s calm obeyed the earth’s spin
As it kissed the sides of the smooth shore,
The sea’s skin smooth as new blown glass
With gaudy birds strutting in its sand:
The stars, fixed with starlight gaze,
Shown upon a steadfast two as
They sat among the precious silence,
And stared at the glimmering moon above:
With her speech low, she wooed the night,
He held her tightly in love’s gentle caress.
This beautiful poem has special meaning for me. I know that others will feel the same.
Beautiful! I love the last two lines.
Lovely and touching.
