Outside

Outside

By Laura Zucca-Scott

Outside my window
The trees are kneeling to the wind
Resentful and proud
While scattered sparrows
Brave the storm

The dusk announces the end of the day
Yet, I sit frozen
Telling myself
To not run outside

The wind will not taste like salt
Here in the prairies
And noisy yellow buses
Will not pick you up

Still, I am home
