longer requited. This poem reads like a litany of devotions, committed
to by the adorer, without hope of a return, simply for the immutable
condition of the heart.
Still
By Eve Hall
What if I should write poetry
And dedicate my favorite poem to you
And you would not read it
If I should sing my favorite song to you
And you would not listen to me
If I should tell you a funny joke
And you would not laugh
Still I would give you my love
Which means more than my poems
Even more than a dedicated song
Or a funny riddle or joke
I will still give you my love
Even though you say
You no longer care.
