The Time of My Life
By Murray Dunlap

An intrepid traveler
I hitchhiked through coma
I hiked past wheelchair
Insanity struck as lightning
Shifting gears, I drove to love and happiness
I ran to God
I could not find my way until I met Him
We caught up in mother’s garage
Balanced between hate, fear, and forgiveness
He told me to slow down
Recovery is not a race
I finally interpret Him in ways that make sense
Allowing me to reach my destination
True love and thoughtful waking hours
I smile straight, knowing . . .
This is the time of my life
