It's just poetry, it won't bite

Untitled 2
By Daniel Dowe

I’m trying to find where they sell
letting go.
My friends keep telling me to get some.
The supermarket shelves have only bread and glue
I also look in the newspaper ads, so
many on a Sunday.
I see something close–a moving sale
But the one word I need is missing.
Instead they have ovens, washers, and big screen TVs
I have those already
But my friends keep urging, insisting
And I keep searching
And wonder who is holding it from me.
Like a hostage, like a ward.
For safekeeping? For penance due?
I’m here now to buy it, if I can only catch it,
I think that’s how. That’s my current plan.

I think we all could use some “letting go.”

Gasp! Exactly the message I needed for today. “bread and glue…” and “something close –a moving sale” the words choices here were excellent to express the metaphor perfectly. Thank you for writing and Annmarie for publishing this poem directed at me this very day!
