Valentine’s Day Thoughts
By Mark Gooch

Love is the theme
Or so it seems
Racks of greeting cards,
Heart-shaped candies,
And displays of
Necklaces, rings, and other shiny things
Scattered strategically throughout the store.
I pause to reflect
And question the purpose
Do financial desires
Overshadow the true meaning?
Corrupt the event?

Let us honor
The cause, yes, the truth
Of best friends
Strolling through life
Facing fears and troubles
With a unified goal
To love and be loved forever
No candy or words or sparkly stones can compare
To the feeling of love that two people can share.
