Year Four
By Darryl Willis

All Saints Day has come again.
Your shade falls dark across my door.
The velocity of life appears
to mitigate missing you
except at odd moments when
I see your face in my glass
or feel your tears filling up
in the corner of my eye.
I can’t say you haunt me. Yet,
you surprise me ever so
when you think none can hear
(but I hear the silent laugh).
I turn my head and find you’ve gone
again, along with the day.
