Elizabeth Dublin travels a lot and writes wherever she is.
Yulish
By Elizabeth Dublin
and the tree is green but the floor
is bare of needles
if the grass is greener
than it was in June and redbirds
play in puddles
if the music is saccharine
and not sacred or at least fun
then ’tis not
the long-heralded season.
Bake some cookies.
Listen to Nat King Cole.
Lay out some glitter
topped cotton batting
and assort the collection
of tchotchkes upon it.
Pin a gold bird to a vine
nest and set them on the
center branch
of an outdoor tree.
Invite the world to spin
out its magic
and revel in this pristine moment.
