Is This the Last Stop
By Denny E Marshall
Not the June
Or the spoon
Of a teenage love
I am much older now
Your space
Invades me
In the margins
Along the folds
You changed more
Than a few words
In my brief light
A shower
Thoughts you erased
Like ribbons
Generals died
Now there is
A specific
Love you so much
I am scared
Not of the unknown
Only of the deep
Of knowing
You
I shake
At the sight
Of the stop signs
Moving on
A stranger
That once
Was a friend
Or the spoon
Of a teenage love
I am much older now
Your space
Invades me
In the margins
Along the folds
You changed more
Than a few words
In my brief light
A shower
Thoughts you erased
Like ribbons
Generals died
Now there is
A specific
Love you so much
I am scared
Not of the unknown
Only of the deep
Of knowing
You
I shake
At the sight
Of the stop signs
Moving on
A stranger
That once
Was a friend
It’s always best to be friends first.
FEAR COMES OFF THE PAGE – Thank you!!!!
Fear of a past
Fear of a person
Fear so deep…
