A Borrowed Life
By Aarushi Vyas

Inspired by
the bygone great,
I delved deeper
into wordy tomes
Losing myself like
dissolved foam
into the water of the known
Earlier a naive bubble
exploring the boundless sky
free from the shackles of self denial
Now weighed down
by tried and tested formulae,
contaminated by colored perceptions
My world foggy,
coated with the mirror of colloquial wisdom,
showing me my own distorted reflection,
arousing insecurities and haunting visions
With my head hung,
I reluctantly confess with a heavy sigh
Maybe I’m not living my own
but a borrowed life
