At the Center of the Radiance of a Star
By Carole Towers

It is very cold in space

Only the clear cruel  ah-lay-loo –ee-a of angels

Ladies on sofas
with brooches on bosoms
have no opinions

silver hairpins in their hair.

The lung exhales and the lung inhales

and they say the heart
was doused with gas.

God

he can not be

far from here.

A shudder of wings,

even the angels depart.

Very cool poem. Love the narrative/attitude shifts. The off-balance quality of it strikes very true.
