Mr Baboon

Bobbie Troy is known to vox readers as a master of short poetry. Here she shares a children’s poem originally written for her grandson.

Mr Baboon
By Bobbie Troy

Mr Baboon went to the moon
On a beautiful sunny day

He said to his son
Take care of your Mom
And I will be back yesterday

To the moon I must go
Why I don’t know
It beckons me from beyond

But I will be back
You can bet on that, Jack
Because of you I am fond

I just have a dream
Of things I must see
So go to the moon I must

But I’ll be back in a dash
As quick as a flash
Before you can see through my dust

So Mr Baboon went to the moon
On a beautiful sunny day

He had a great time
And did lots of things
And got back yesterday
