Commerce
By Anthony Ward

I’m drifting in the doldrums
Without anything to drive me
Tired of listening to people
Telling me how I feel
Tired of listening to people express
What I fail to convey with words
Trying to hear my own voice
Drowned out by the silence
Becoming increasingly frustrated
Until I’m distraught with doubt
Not wanting to be caught by the current
While catching my breath in the sales.

  1. “Catching my breath in the sales” OMG what a great ending.
A lot of unspoken in this silence you speak of. Makes one really think on all of this poem.
    Bravo
