In Pleasure
By Nate Spears

White suit, top hat, pride feeling higher than spectacular
The ugly duckling has gone platinum
Feeling gold
Opening a new chapter with a silver lining
Revealing transformation
A new me
On top of Thee
On top of the world is he
One hell of a duckling

Tonight’s river is floating our boat
With the current love
Of our lives

Spirits high

The sky is the limit
On cloud nine

Love and happiness
In the atmosphere

Strutting to the screams of St. Johns
With mean swagger

Once viewed as a tragedy
Frowned upon
As if I was part of an oil spill disaster
Tonight I clean up well
With dawn

Floating the river with style
My love by my side
Keeping my head above the water
Moonlighting with the summer’s waters

Another happy ending in great weather
Florida
Is home sweet home

Another love tale covered
With feathers.
Relaxing in comfort in my arms like a pillow
Soft with pleasure, my love.

Nate Spears’ most recent poem to appear here was Mutual Dedication (November 2011).
