Ladies Get New Names When They Marry
By Frank Cavano
Ladies get new names when they marry.
Sighs and smoking thighs bring forth one,
then another. But one dies in the war over
there and another in the wars over here.
Oh, my love, let us wipe away these tears,
lock our loins and love away
the Night ’til someone comes
to give you back your name.
Frank Cavano’s poems Flight and Questioning have appeared at vox poetica in 2009.
