when night turns the corner
and becomes morning
the back of my mind inevitably stirs
with musings on the day
the complexities and mysteries of life
trying to find the simplicity within
i wish i never cease
to think and dream
but most of all i wish
i never cease to wonder
how do rivers hide their tears?
how do children hide their fears?
how does old age hide its years?
how do rivers hide their tears?

I like the metaphor of a “river with tears” coupled with the conflict and seemingly impossibility of trying to hide them.

I love your imagery and how it makes the reader think and wonder.
This poem says so much. I also think at the end of the day about what has transpired. I have never wondered how rivers hide their tears but I do wonder often how we hide our own tears. Very well written and I particularly like the tie between a river’s tears and a child’s fears. It is difficult to imagine the tears of a river and even more difficult to comprehend the fears of a child. Great poem.
