On days when dreams are not enough
By Christopher Roe
In the spaces that exist
in between footsteps
lie the journeys not taken
the futures forsaken
and all those haunting
thoughts about what if.
On days when dreams
are not enough
taste the reality of the wind
feel the truth of the rain
lose yourself in the infinite
bird songs that invest
every breeze with joy.
Embrace the things
that only exist
in this reality
on this journey
and leave idle dreams
for sleep to eat.
This is TRULY one of the best works I’ve ever read. So true, so clean and clear, so poignant. Beautiful! Saving this one. 🙂
Thank you. You flatter me beyond reason.
Dear sir, flattery is mostly empty and intended to elicit gain somehow for the giver…I assure you, as a writer myself I only give honest, sincere critiques. Your work gave me great pleasure and I thank you! 🙂
Dreams are special. Mostly when we are awake.
Thank you for your comment.
I love this beautiful, realistic, and very wise poem. It felt as if Mr. Roe had written it straight to my heart — a lesson not to stay in my head so much. Thanks for sharing!
Too kind.
