Two Dusty Guitars
By James Warnke

Two dusty guitars
sit side by side
like an old married couple
in bed.

In the room next door
an old married couple
sit side by side
in bed.

Two dusty guitars
long unplayed
gathering dust
out of tune
still strung.
Two dusty guitars
hoping
in silence
to be touched
to be tuned
to be played
in duet
one more time.

  1. Great job on this. I wasn’t sure where you were going, but loved the visual.

  2. Nicole Yurcaba says:

Such a sensual poem. Even as a 27 year old sprout, the hidden desire of the older couple resonates with me.
