The Erasure of Sunset
By Steven Minchin

West Hollywood blinked out in front of us
Two short flashes of sparking blue then black
As the play land disappeared atop the hill

Random and sudden
We rolled up jumping
To screen this dark glitter

Hot blues popping in the air
Suddenly caused world famous to disappear
Burst back to us then shoot off blue again

For a second the city of angels around it
Seemed to swallow this enclave all at once
And produced a teaser that it wasn’t ever really there

West Hollywood blinked out in front of us
In a beautiful way that had us jumping and stumbling
Toward a sight as amazing as it was unseen
