Fallen, broken gravestones
By Michael Plesset

Fallen, broken gravestones
whisper together
about now distant days
mourning was new, sadness
deeply felt
grief that seemed eternal
but now forgotten
the sun warms broken stone
with no one there to feel
the loss of what was life
children play in the grass around
and cars drive quickly by
what happened to the memories
who mourns this emptiness
that those who used to care
so much
are gone.

  1. This is a visual I’ve had too many times. Sad…but well spoken.
