Fine Art
By Clinton Van Inman

It is more about tasting fine wine
While sitting and listening to local jazz,
Or introducing all the well-dressed wives
Who stand with fancy minks while posing
For the who’s who in the local magazine,
Or all the experts and critics discussing techniques
To docents, directors, and sponsors disclosing
The latest collection of Chinese antiques,
Or dinner reception with the latest book signing,
Among all the proud, the pomp, the pizzazz
While not forgetting the consenting handshake
While cutting purple ribbons and a slice of cake
Or forgetting the call for juried art for art’s sake
Despite as painting goes on make no mistake.
