It's just poetry, it won't bite

As we fly by

Laura Zucca-Scott’s most recent poem to appear here was Still the Same Yellow Flower (June 2013).

As we fly by
Laura Zucca-Scott

From the car’s window
A barn appears in the morning mist
Ancient and defeated
Red fading into burnt orange
A wall caved in
Too tired to stand tall

Was the music playing in the old days?
Was there comfort in your warmth?
I know you still remember
So I wave and smile
As we fly by Interstate 74
