It's just poetry, it won't bite

Free Stuff

Sarah Endo’s most recent appearance (Match) was as part of Contributor Series 4: Aspects of the Elephant. Her conversation poem today is part guilty pleasure, part amusing anecdote, part maternal escape in a way that’s familiar to many mothers of young children.

Free Stuff
By Sarah Endo

I love checking out
the free stuff
on craigslist
There’s always something
that tickles
or tempts me
makes me smile
with its honesty
and optimism:
free shabby furniture
Free Wooden Hut
Free used cooking oil!
Not 1, Not 2, But 3 Free Monitors!
Canon Camera Battery Charger–doesn’t work
Maybe the free stuff isn’t
perfect, but
with a little
vision or TLC
it might be

Thank you so much! There is some really good free stuff on craigslist. I think the funniest item I’ve heard of is one my friend told me about — free chapsticks, lightly used.
