Matthew Ross’ poem Resurrection appeared here in February 2010.
Homecoming
By Matthew Ross
Thersites was wise;
this was never my war.
A lifetime across the sea,
and only now I understand
exactly what was lost:
The honor of my crops;
the weight of my son’s
small hands.
Reality, hits us hard and makes us humble.
Beautiful. The last two lines are wonderful.
Very touching.
