Iced Tea

Jagari Mukherjee lives and writes in Kolkata, India.

Iced Tea

The city’s landscape
Of ever-stimulating
Sounds and scenes is the setting.
A bookstore
Is the microcosm—
An excuse to meet you
On the pretext of
Browsing.
The iced tea in the bookstore cafeteria
Is a bright blue drink.
Boarding a dilapidated bus
Is an exciting start
To the voyage through
The sweltering heat
And traffic jams of dusty summer
Only for the sake
Of drinking iced tea
With you
In an hour-long
Rendezvous.
