In Plain Sight
By Michael Copeland

With lighthearted wonderment
I gaze longingly into the space
that fills my upward vision.

Stars and distant planets beckon
my imagination, tremble my heart,
wide eyes drink the night.

I’m humbled by infinity and left
speechless by its beauty,
smaller than a grain of sand am I.

To find a way to live forever
would not be long enough
to sate my curiosity and love.

Thank you for my life,
I hope I lived it righteously,
know that I tried, and enjoyed.
