In Vermeer’s Light
By Christopher Roe

In Vermeer’s light
her glowing face
is a sun that holds me
in the gravitational pull
of her beauty.

Soft eyes gaze
their wistful dreams
and the unexpected
bloom of love unfolds
like a morning rose.

And the stars and moon
and celestial truth
are all satellites to
the heavenly grace
of her glowing face

in Vermeer’s light.
