Just for a day
By James McGurk

Just for a day
I’d like to hear
The sound of a sleeping dog
The heartbeat of a bird
The footsteps of an ant
The dust from a passing herd

Just for a day
I’d like to see
The aroma of a flower
The sweetness of a honeybee
The creation of a smile
The sun warming a tree

Just for a day
I’d like to feel
The moment I was born
The beginning of a star
The hope of mankind
The world without a scar
