Klondike Margarita
(dedicated to Nancy and her journey)
By Rita Budrionis

You found me in Juneau
Swimming in crystal green
Darlin’ I thought the Old West was dead.
Come and love me where
cold turns hope to dust.

You showed me eagles and
wild strawberries
You kissed my softness.

Paddle hard down that
crystal river
Don’t stop for a heartbeat
The whales are breaching in turquoise bay.

I love this poem. And it DOES make me want to take a trip. So much adventure packed into such compact lines and stanzas. Great writing.

Wow! What invigorating images and language.
