Lilies
Inspired by Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s poem “Body’s Beauty”

By Samantha Brown

A modern Woman in biblical times
A witch bitch with magic contained
In no
Adam flares
How dare
she
a woman
Tell Him
no
Created from the same dirt
They are equals
He saw a mounting piece, a prize
He wanted Her below Him
Physically, mentally, emotionally, socially
Hidden in the scripture
The world is not meant to know
Of the one He loved before eve
The obedient, ideal woman
eve
The below Him
eve
The joke is on them
adam and eve are dead.
Lilith wanders the world
planting no in Women’s mouths
where little Lilies will bloom once more
