Photographs
By Morgan Bazilian
Pictures bent on the mantle
held up by other things:
books, boxes, a vase
The people smiling, moving
hands splayed, touching
They look straight ahead
And by now they have forgotten where he went
when he left
a journey not yet complete
Another frame shows a moment:
The sun low, late autumn
arms intertwined
posed and casual
A small wisp of light
remains in the depression of a cliff
The three women are smiling
and young
each looking in different directions at different cameras
Today they rarely speak
attentions diverted
dusted only rarely
Very good
