Rare

By KC Bosch

Dumplings and satay
chopsticked off the same
plate, drunken noodles
and some sober talk.

Big patties from locally
raised, add a side, push away
the plate. Finish with sweets
that finished us both.

A menu of things
sampled before
now flavored with spices,
even air tastes new.

Stale beer and regulars cheering
us on. Some things in life come
just how you order them.
We chose rare.
