Regret
By Jenny Billings Beaver

Sure, I could have worked
fewer hours, learned
to cook, been at your beck and call
in the bedroom, desired
children less, gone to church
willingly, tried to “get it,”
and you, more often.

But you and I both know it
would not have worked anyway–
I never would have moved,
and you had no intention to stay.
