Midsummer

the whole nightmoon
three days off full
katydids
all to myself

Sense

It’s not supposed to
the pattern of clouds
on a cool June day
the way things fall
in place or not.
You give them
sense they don’t have
to make and things
happen no matter
how many times
you crossed/uncrossed
or rubbed the stone.

Beach

The hole you’ve dug
deep enough to see the waves

Turning Down

Slow turning down
end of day
if you hike
in the late afternoon
through the pines
maybe in snow
you might not even notice
the dimming until lavender
appears above gray.

Stream

Melting into the stream
little fishes come & nibble
Can something be caught twice
once a subject is chosen
Is it possible to write
of the same thing again?
