Sometimes in this noisy world
there is a moment
that is absent of any sound.
When that happens we stop
and listen intently.
Why?
Very thought-provoking poem. You might be interest in reading an excellent short story (my opinion) called The Year of Silence by Kevin Brockmeier in the 2008 edition of the Best American Short Stories.
