When did the land of the free and the brave
Become the home of the rant and the rave?
Where are the eloquent writers and speakers,
Now replaced by loud pipsqueakers?
Why did the art of public discourse,
Once so fine, become so coarse?
How can we ever end this screed?
I prithee desist, for my ear doth bleed.
