Sunset After Storm
By Susan Gabbay
Cats had gone to ground
Under the bed
with thunder’s first roll.
Sky grew dark
High wind tossed the trees
Rain sheeted down.
After the storm was over
Clouds were lit
With an eerie sunset glow
Of golden red.
Air was sweet and clean
Wind whispered
To the battered, weary trees
Sleep. sleep now
All’s well, all’s well.
