The People Making Babies

every year they
have more, and most
can’t feed them, clothe them,
or raise them.
but they have their eyes
walking around in a new
version of themselves,
an image of something
they used to dream about, of someone
they used to be but never
became.
the people making babies.
the people making babies.
the people hoping to have
heart attack, so the next generation
can finish their sad songs.
