Kathryn Tate Jacoby’s poem Come and Love Me was posted in April. She’s a very busy lady and you can find out what she’s working on at her web site. Her poem today is just the right thing for graduates; it is that time of year.
To Don Quixote
By Kathryn Tate Jacoby
In every walk of life there is
The man
Who rails against injustice
Who carries within a moral compass
Who wonders at the folly of the masses
Who sees his fellow man as he sees
Himself.
It matters not if he is
Degreed or unlearned,
Worldly or guileless,
Affluent or impoverished,
High-born or of humble birth.
Deep within he knows …
That there are universal truths
Unspoken laws,
Basal rights
That deem we all
Are one.
He is the one who tilts
at the windmills
of convention.
Long live the man
Of social conscience!
Good thoughts for narrow minds.
