Watcher
By Marc Carver

I sit around
waiting for something to happen.
Look at the woman with orange legs,
her boyfriend looks at me,
doesn’t look too happy.
I look at the pale woman pushing a trolley
she looks and moves like death
she has some kind of bag under her dress at the back.
One of the two women sat on the next bench next to me notice it too
they are selling religion
but not very hard
The one who noticed and told the other one
has just come back from the toilet.
Watching these things is a bit better than going home and going back to bed
but not much.
