Clarice Backus is a wife-mommy-poet-musician. As a chagrined but thankful transplant from the west to the east coast, she searches for mountains in the clouds. Her poetry is inspired by all of nature’s beauty, daily life with little ones, and walking the narrow road of faith. Visit her blog.

Welcome to the Page
By Clarice Backus

You are half a line
Written wrinkled on a diner napkin
Alongside mustard and apple pie
Filling–
Flavor fading in my favorite jeans pocket.
You received effusion.
You are blessed.
Yet you may bleed
Forgotten in a sudsy spin cycle.
You were born from my heart’s overflow
So I will rescue you.
Your other half is stained here.
Will you join?
Yes? Ah!–
Welcome to the page.
