Who Will Guard . . .

The course of human events
has complicated
issues of our times
beyond the comprehension
of average citizens
engaged in daily efforts
to provide for their families,
main concerns, jobs, mortgages,
children’s education,
unprepared to understand
Keynsian admonitions,
military interventions,
social welfare engineering,
instead electing officials
to positions of power
thinking them responsible
for the public well-being,
discovering too late
that trusted public servants
are tools of vested interests
and have forgotten
obligations to the nation.
