It's just poetry, it won't bite

An A+ Sunrise
By Harris Tobias

Let’s see you translate that, poets.
Even in my native tongue
A sunrise is difficult to describe.
Oh sure, there are the colors,
The clouds, the light,
The garish lack of taste.
The haphazard design mocks
A real designer.
Those things I can describe.
It’s the promise of a new day
That defies description,
The relief, the certainty, the chance
For a new beginning,
And the certainty that this gaudy gift
Will be squandered once again.

  1. Yes, Harris, but that’s life. What would the world do without it. I love your interpretation!
