It's just poetry, it won't bite

Another Time

Gary Hanna’s most recent poem to appear here was Door Knob (August 2012).

Another Time
By Gary Hanna

I’m older
now

and time
has passed

but still
I remember

long ago
we schooled

our hearts, now
I wear glasses

and my eyes
aren’t as blue

anymore, so
there’s no danger

but before we go
I want to see you

I’ll knock
politely

at the door
hoping

that you
are still there

Wistful and poignant. Beautiful. I particularly like, “We schooled our hearts.” Thank you for this lovely poem.

    Lovely and sentimental.

  3. I read this twice to savor.
