It's just poetry, it won't bite

Black Woman Please

05.01.11 Posted in today's words by

This is the first poem by Levester Ford to appear at vox poetica. I’d love to tell you a little more about him, but he didn’t include a bio. Now you know what happens when I am left to write the story myself … I will not fake a story for Levester tonight. I will, however, let this poem stand on its own and tell its own story.

Black Woman Please …

By Levester Ford

Black woman please,
don’t give up on me.
Black woman please,
try to see
that I do value thee.
Black woman please,
don’t judge us by a few.
Black woman please,
allow us to love only you.
Black woman please,
strengthen my stride.
Black woman please,
walk by my side.
Black woman please,
continue to be my child’s mother.
Black woman please,
believe me when I say,
I will accept no other.
Black woman please,
give me a smile.
Black woman please,
stay with me for a long while.
