Maxwell Baumbach’s poem Snack-rifice was published as part of Contributor Series 8: Feast and Famine. He is, of course, more. He is an accomplished poet, the editor of Heavy Hands Ink, and a very driven young man who tells us what he’s more than but doesn’t limit our imagination.

By Maxwell Baumbach

I am more

than a piece

to an eight piece

puzzle

more

than the afterthought

of a hangover

more

than a spark

in the infinite space

of the universe

I was not made

to be squeezed through a Play-Doh mold

nor was I made

to zip my mouth shut

as if my lips

have the fly

from a pair of jeans

I am more

than a “kid”

that has “tons of heart”

I am more

than a twisted jungle

with bamboo

and baboons

scraping at your face

but the actions I take

remain to go unnoticed

when I die

how can I rest?

    So thought-provoking.

  2. I often say, I don’t have time for this or that…your poem puts that into perspective, beautifully.
